The location of the château de Nieuil allows you to take full advantage of the exceptional wealth of the Charente département and the neighbouring Limousin region.

A number of places deserve a visit, including not only Cognac, famous for its … cognac, Angoulême, famous for its International Comics Festival, and the medieval town of Confolens, but also the Gallo-Roman site at Chassenon, several castles, including La Rochefoucauld, soothing boat trips on the river and lakes of the Haute-Charente département, and much more.

You are free to do as you like, on a whim. Let yourself be taken by surprise – you’re bound to be delighted !

You will be enchanted – bewitched by the soft birdsong, you will not be surprised to see nesting boxes in the trees.
In keeping with the hospitality we offer, the park surrounding the Château de Nieuil is a bird sanctuary run by the LPO (the French league for the protection of birds), and many birds have taken up residence.

You will be able to discover them on the “bird walk” around the moat and the castle, punctuated with poems.

There is a wide range of sport activities available on the estate – swimming pool, tennis, cycling, and fishing for the more energetic.



Some visitors will prefer to stroll along the tree-lined paths, making the most of an opportunity to do nothing, or to visit the art and antiques gallery, containing furniture, Thirties objets d’art and a wonderful collection of old posters.

Gourmets will not want to miss the “La Grange aux Oies" restaurant in the former stables, opposite the castle – the restaurant is a member of the Association of Gourmet Tables of the Poitou-Charentes département.
